The Basin Backyard is a small family business and has over 200 bee hives in The Basin, the Dandenong ranges, Gippsland, St Arnauld/Bendigo region and Mornington Peninsula - we provide Bee mentoring, Beekeeping supplies and great honey and honey related products. All our honey is cold filtered which leaves in all the beneficial goodness and most of all FLAVOUR
Ethical Standpoint
We dont feed our bees sugar', we take minimal honey as it's their food. We do not harvest pollen or royal jelly as the bees need this for their survival and we are all about caring and working with our bees. Honey is not heated, which removes any benefits (enzymes, pollen) so doesn't change the individual flavours.

Chai tea
Our beautiful Chai teas, they’re a wet chai not a syrup or powder which have sugar listed as the main ingredient. but is sweetened by honey which is the main ingredient and contains star anise, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, fennel seeds, cloves, fresh ginger etc. Available in 2 varieties, Chai Spice and Chai Masala which has black tea in it also.

Beeswax candles
Pure beeswax candles using cotton wicks. Our range has from small owl or beehive candles to the large post which uses almost 1/2 a kilo of our wax.
Pure raw honey
Available in 500g, 1kg or 3kg sizes. Our pure raw Mixed blossom honey is from our hives in various locations throughout the Dandenong ranges. It's called Mixed Blossom because it's multi-floral - our bees visit various different flowers when they're collecting nectar and pollen. We have other varieties collected when the particular flower is in bloom, from strong flavoured Grey Box through to mild Red Gum. We also have Blue Mallee, Yellow Box, Orange blossom and we currently have Christmas Mallee which flowers at Christmas time, but only every 4 years.
Honey or Honey and Eucalyptus drops
Using our honey, the Honey drops is the same recipe as the lollypops. Old fashioned Honey & Eucalyptus drops are great for when a dry tickle in your throat is annoying you!. Available in 100g or 170g jars

Honeycomb
Honeycomb is extremely nutritious and packed with vitamins. Bees store honey in hexagon shapes they make with their wax. It's delicious on hot toast or cheeseboards or just by the spoonful. People have been buzzing over the sweetness, healing properties and health benefits of honeycomb for years.
